About KHB
Hamilton, is at the centre of one of the richest agricultural and pastoral areas in the world, a major commercial and industrial hub with a population of around 125,000 people. This makes Hamilton New Zealand's largest inland city, and the country's fourth largest city over all.
Community driven beautification and environmental improvement in Hamilton dates back as far as 1912, when Council first funded a beautification society. Today, we are a group of enthusiastic individuals looking for opportunities to improve and maintain Hamilton's environment. Check out the projects and activities link to find out more about some of the projects we have recently been involved in.
How to get involved
If you would like to be part of this exciting programme, click the
JOIN KHB NOW button at the top of this page.
- Participation in KHB can happen on many levels. Individuals or groups may wish to "adopt" a specific street, others may take responsibility for things like litter control of a specific area, or tree or wildflower planting.
- Groups with an interest in the environment may want to adopt an environmentally sensitive area and pledge to habitat restoration or interpretative projects. The possibilities to enhance and preserve Hamilton's open spaces and common areas are endless.
- Send the chair an email, or find more contact details on the Contact page.
There is always a lot to do, so if you are enthusiastic about keeping Hamilton beautiful, we would love to hear from you.
